New York State Family Resource Center Network

Empowering Families Across New York

The NYS Family Resource Network believes that families thrive when they have access to the support they need.

Across New York State, you’ll find centers dedicated to supporting families in local communities. While the names may differ—Family Resource Center (FRC), Family Opportunity Center (FOC), or Family Neighborhood Resource Centers (FNRC)—their shared mission is to strengthen families and foster a more connected community, ensuring every child has the opportunity to flourish.

These Centers are located in various places, such as schools, churches, or libraries—they serve as  community hubs where families can easily find support and community with their peers.

These centers are created by and for the community, embracing cultural diversity and welcoming families of all ages. Their multi-generational approach helps build stronger, more inclusive communities.

What is a Family Resource Center?

Family resource centers deliver unique, community-centered support that enhances a child’s well-being and strengthens local communities. No matter their name, each center in the NYS Family Resource Center Network is guided by core pillars: they are strength-based, community-centered, and dedicated to uplifting every individual who walks through their doors by supporting the Protective Factors Framework (parental resilience, social connections, concrete support, knowledge of parenting and child development, and social and emotional competence in children).

Through access to evidence-based parenting programs, early childhood resources, and professional development, our network empowers caregivers and professionals to foster stronger, more resilient communities across New York State.

Family Resource Centers offer a wide range of services, including peer-to-peer support, parenting assistance, centralized access to resources and navigation, child development activities, parent leadership development, and opportunities for community engagement.
